BREWTON, AL - D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital completes successful Battle of Murder Creek Blood Drive. Over $3,000 donated to area charities.
Officials confirmed that the 2015 Battle of Murder Creek Blood Drive was one of the best in recent history. The final tally for blood donors was W.S. Neal with 72 and T.R. Miller with 42 for a total of 114.
In addition to the large support of blood donors, the group was also able to raise funds for two local charities: The Wheels of Wellness and the American Cancer Society. Quarterback Clubs from each school were given the opportunity to sell shirts to help raise monies for charities.
From each shirt sold the respective QB Club received $4 per shirt. The QB Club who sold the most shirts won $250 for themselves and another $250 for their school. W.S. Neal won with a score of 50-4. The total shirt sales totaled 210 shirts, the most ever.
Football ticket winners were TR Miller - Jessica Smith and WS Neal - Gerred Boatwright. Winners will be contacted by hospital officials once tickets are ready.
"Because of the support of sponsors, donors, volunteers, helpers and anyone who purchased we will be donating more than $3,000 to charity," said Jason Daniel, hospital marketing director. "I want to thank everyone who made this year's event a success. We hope to see everyone again next year to battle for their favorite school."
