D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital Announces Changes to Sleep Center
Brewton, AL - D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital has announced that the Sleep Center is modifying several aspects of their services. These changes include relocation of pretest appointments, expanded in-home services, and continuum of care services and products with sleep related patients. The hospital's state-of-the-art Sleep Center has provided valuable service to the community for many years, and these changes will serve to enhance the offerings we provide to patients.
"We provide a sleep clinic every two weeks locally by Dr. Geoffrey Lipscomb, who specializes in Family and Sleep Medicine," said Candy Hanna, Sleep Center Manager. "We are in the process of upgrading the Sleep Center's testing equipment and were fully operational by September of this year. In addition to in lab testing, we will be offering expanded in-home sleep testing"
The Sleep Center is vital for patients seeking testing, treatment, and insurance required sleep specialist visits for pre-test assessment, CPAP compliance or CPAP resupply prescriptions. They offer an onsite telemedicine sleep clinic, plus the ability to provide Telemed visits utilizing smart phones (as carriers allow). Onsite pre-test assessments are conducted at D. W. McMillan Home Medical Equipment located at 1108 Douglas Avenue, Suite A, in Brewton.
"The hospital's Sleep Center is fully accredited through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine to provide quality sleep testing services," stated Rick Owens, hospital administrator. "To simplify the process, we have developed a new physician referral form. Through consultation with the sleep specialist, the physician can choose to manage their patient's entire sleep testing process or directly refer their patient's treatment plan."
The new fax number for physician referrals is (855) 710-6372. Physicians must submit an order form with the patient's demographics and the referring physician's notes (as stated on the order form). To speak with the Sleep Center scheduler, call (251) 369-0061. Manager Candy Hanna can be reached at (601) 405-5061.
