Hospital takes first in show
July 1, 2014
BREWTON, AL - There were seven boats in the inaugural Brewton Alabama Duct Tape Regatta. Participants launched their boats at O'Bannon Park and raced to Jenning's Park beach. D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital won 1st Place in the design category.
Third overall in the race, the D.W. McMillan Duct tape regatta boat was designed and constructed by hospital employees who volunteered to help the hospital participate. Team captain, Ruthie Cooper enlisted help from many different volunteers to help construct the vessel.
In addition to finishing first in the design category and third in the race, D.W. McMillan employees also participated in other ways. The hospital housekeeping staff piloted a boat built by one of the maintenance employees. The dietary manager and one of our PRN's piloted the winning boat in the race.
A good time and fun for all, the inaugural regatta was organized by the Leadership Brewton class to raise money for their playground project.
